I have searched and looked and have not found any solutions. 1. sometimes when we save an illustrator file to our server, we get an error that states: Acrobat PDF File Format is having Difficulties. Missing 'xref'. 2. Now when we go to open eps files it wants to open it as a text document and can no longer be viewed as an image file.

Adobe has always recommended saving files locally then copying to a server. Due to the myriad of server configurations out there, there is no way Adobe can test them all. The issues you are having are specific to your environment and not the fault of Illustrator.

After 2 years, this is the first we have started having them. Makes sense, but its hard to do that when more than one person may work on the file during the day. but i guess we will have too. I did not think it was Illustrators fault, but was hoping for some kind of solution to fix it... It says there is nothing they can change on their end, its a plug and play harddrive. Atleast now I know wher ethe issue lies. Thanks

Are you working on a Mac? The plug and play hard drive is probably formatted for PC wich means it does not support all type of Mac file-info...

Yeah we are on a mac. We just added a harddrive about a month ago and all these problems just started. Everything else seems fine with the drive but when it come to illustrator, its hit and miss on the issues we are having. not all files are affected. Just the important ones we need now. lol
