Ok I've re-recorded my action so it incluides opening the file.  I've also set the batch settings the way you had them.  This time everything ran no errors, I got one converted ai file and three eps files.  I tried again and it started to hang up on the files (10+ secs on each) and then finally my system locked up.  After several reboots this is all it does now. 

I'm running AI 9.0 (possibly the problem) and Windows ME
