Ok. I did read the help and tried to follow the steps. Then I followed a tutorial . I created my animation and then I clicked "Save Optimized As" and I saved it as a gif. Then, when I go to view the gif, it's just gray. I did set the animation up in the animations palette. And I'm not sure I understand how to "create a seperate layer for each cell in the animation" (I might know, but I just don't know it. :) )
