Adding new notes to Mac InCopy CS2 seems, well, odd

I am trying to add new notes to InCopy CS 2 docs (so that editors can see where 'invisible' Character Styles have been applied for indexing purposes).

I'm in early testing, and I can create notes, but I've hit a wall as far as controlling where the notes show up (which is critical). Oh yeah, I can't seem to control the contents of the notes either, which isn't critical.

Has anyone cracked this one?
Thanks in advance.

Aaron

Script and Log follow:
=====================
tell application "Adobe InCopy CS2"

      tell story id 183 of document 1

            set tryIt to make new note with properties {text:"Hello?", story offset:2}
            		-- I have also tried stuff like "at beginning of its text flow" and
            others, they all fail

      	end tell
      	set testThis to the properties of every note of every story of document
      1
      	set testThat to the text of note 1 of story id 183 of document 1
      	log testThat
      	log testThis

end tell
