Okay, actually here's the deal. I want to be able to set my defaults for
EVERYTHING. I can't think of a single setting which I don't want the ability
to set a default different from "factory preset". I want to be able to set a
default font, a default feather, a default corner rounding number (without
having to set corner rounding itself as a default), a default drop shadow, a
default palette setup, default text frame options, default stroke widths,
etc. and have my settings STICK. I then want a reliable method to back up
those defaults so I can use them later if I have to delete my prefs. I want
to be able to choose between opening every document at the first page and
opening at the last page I worked on. I want to be able to choose between
defaulting to the My Documents folder, another folder I choose, or the last
folder worked in for saving and opening.

And another feature which would save my wrists from excess mousage... if in
almost every setting, I was able to choose to pick from several commonly
used folders rather than the whole darn disk. Or several commonly used
fonts. Or several commonly used paragraph styles, etc.

And it would be nice to be able to choose to use those features or not,
depending on the speed of my system.

I don't see the point of having a "customizable engine designed to meet the
individual user's specific needs" without being able to actually CUSTOMIZE
basic defaults.
