The first one if you want to text flow inside the ellipse.If you want to flow along the path. Then try this- 1.draw the ellipse ( stroke set 0) 2.with the text path tool add the text as you want 3.add dropshadow if you are using indesign2 definitely you will get  the desired effect(no drop shadow for ellipse).
