k this works!!! Thanks! I guess it must just be my setup. 

I can't figure out why, even the simplest animation (a solid with basic text) won't import from AMX though.. I've reinstalled both AE5.5 and LM2 now (i was having a lot of crashes on export from LM also)..  G4/533/DP OSX.1.4
