Saving as a PDF

In using Pagemaker v 6.5, when trying to export a document as an Adobe PDF, an error message "Adobe printing error" appears and the application will freeze/lock up. How can I resolve this so that I can save a document as a PDF?

More info. what computer? what OS? were you able to make PDFs from another document? How big is the document?
