Beyond the FDF Toolkit

Hello. My company currently uses Adobe Acrobat Professional to create forms, and the Java FDF Toolkit (jFdfTk.jar) to process the data sent to us from our clients with those forms. It all works great, but we need some extra functionality. Currently, users can print the forms before submitting the data back to us for validation and persistence, which is a significant problem. What we would like to do is enable printing only when the data in the form has been saved (i.e. the data matches what is in our database). For example, printing would be enabled when the form is loaded, disabled when any field is changed, and enabled again when the form is saved and validated.

Could anyone direct me to what I would need from Adobe in order to get this functionality? Would simply purchasing some sort of additional API allow us to code this in, or do we need a larger software package?

Many thanks for the help.
