I work in prepress and picture manipulation so I practically never use the animation-, internet- or medicinal features and consequently have no qualms there. Some of my requests may be of no importance to the majority of users, still I see no harm in stating or reiterating them, so heres a list of features I would liked to see implemented or improved upon please forgive me if some have already been brought up by others. Liquify should be applicable as a Smart Filter. As I strongly favour non-destructive editing Liquify currently is simply not for me; some of its results can be achieved with the Displace-filter; but the Displacement Map-handling is not especially intuitive. (But definitively keep the Displace-filter, please!) The Radial Blur-filter would probably benefit from a preview, savable settings and a more precise way of defining the center point. Id like to see Warp get a big overhaul to move it in the direction of Illustrators Envelope Distort if at all possible. Smart Objects should be fully Free Transform-able, because simulating perspectival shortening is pretty cumbersome with Warp. Smart Filters should be maskable individually and not only globally and their masks should be linkable to their Smart Objects or at least honor transformations of Layer Groups they are situated in. Advanced masking-needs sometimes make we wish for the ability to use a layered file/Smart Object as a mask. Of course that seems pretty impractical what with the different natures of Layers and Alpha Channels, still it would be helpful to me. In the company I work at its customary to use the english version of Photoshop with non-english keyboards to accommodate our Umlaut-needs. This makes communicating in this forum easier but I sorely miss some shortcuts that are assigned to keys my keyboard does not feature (or only as combinations) like the tilde for going to the composite in the Channels-Palette or in the Adjustment windows. So I would like all shortcuts to be editable, even those pertaining to Palettes, Adjustment windows, nudging Clone-sources, the brush-size modifiers in Liquify, etc. A Current & Below-setting for the Eyedropper Tool (much like the brilliant one for the Clone Stamp- and Healing Brush-tools) would be great for painting below Adjustment Layers. The Actions-Palette could benefit from enhanced marking- and structuring capabilities like folders within actions and the like. I practically use only two of the Screen Modes, so I would like to be able to throw the other two out of the loop one cycles through by hitting the F-key. In some thread Ive read it mentioned that Painter allows to freely rotate an images screen-representation. I imagine implementing that in Photoshop would be an intensive task, both programming-wise and performance-wise, but it would also be a boon for drawing- and painting-like tasks in photo-touch-up with a wacom-tablet so Id really like to see that happen.
