Writing keywords to JPEG files

I have about 2500 files that I would like to start managing in the file browser. I already have keyword data for those files stored elsewhere and would like to import it into Photoshop. I've written the code to add keywords; however, my issue is that many of these files are JPEGs, and resaving them using the standard close method will cause them to be recompressed. Is there any way for me to add the keyword data to the files w/o recompressing the files?

Thanks.

Andrew
