I'm stumped because I have never had a problem with this. Using doc.close with the save option should work as should the SaveAs method. I can't think of any Photoshop option that would prevent this working. Have you used Larry's script and set the JPEG options in the script. I don't think this should matter because these will go to the defaults. Perhaps post your full script plus version and platform info and also what type of file you are trying to save.
