"Drawing failed" error message

When I <save as> PS files (Windows XP, PS7, RBG, *.tif files) as grey scale and reduce the usual 300 dpi resolution to 72 dpi for faster email transmission, the error message "Drawing failed" appears in the attachment. I have done something wrong, but what? Thanx for any help, Dave
