Dear Adobe guru,
         I'm wondering if there is a features in Adobe Photoshop for image
resizing with the following condition:

With an arbitrary original image size,  suppose I have a requirement that
the resulting image can not exceed the max-width and max-height. So, in turn
one dimension would be the exact size of the max size and the other will
either shrink/expand depending on the ratio of the reduction/expansion.

How can you do that in a script using Photoshop 8 or later.
