Well, go figure, the above solution worked when I SCREEN VIEWED the job, but it failed when it came to PRINTING. The screen print is via Adobe's distiller, while the actual print is via the postscript interpreter on the HP8000, and this tells me that the two are not interpreting the same. That is, the printer interpreter is not seeing the declared variable from within the .ps file, while Adobe's distiller does. Is there a way around this? Thanks, Don Volent
