AFAICT it does, although it may be very intolerant of

PageMaker's and Acrobat's EPS exports, but I've never noticed it

*If* the OP has correctly identified the problem font, which he says
already prints correctly from other elements on the page, I don't see
how an additional instance of it would help. But you're right that
this workaround is effective in getting QX to download a font it
*doesn't* already think is needed -- at least I've had success using
this trick on the PM and Acrobat files I mentioned above. I usually
set the text in black, and off the page -- but in a transparent text
box that *does* touch the page somewhere.
