PostScript is a programming language, and looking at only a little of the program can be deceiving. In particular, one would have to examine the G2UBegin procedure to know what it did. However, at a guess, the first column are the glyph names for the characters. Glyph names are sometimes recognisable character names, and in other cases, arbitrary, made up names. Perhaps the names were made up using the glyph index, but that would be something the driver chose to do, not any PostScript requirement. The names, whatever they are, have to appear inside the font to have any meaning. Aandi Inston
