A month Ago, Adobe Systems announced that the Adobe PostScript RIP 3016 is available. It supports direct input of PDF 1.5 formats. It also support JDF 1.1a to streamline information exchange between applications. It also gives OEMs the change to develop JDF based devices in order to support complete prepress print automation. My question is, if the Adobe Postscript 3016 RIP is a real PDF 1.4 or 1.5 RIP? Perhaps it converts/flattens the PDF 1.4/1.5 to PostScript 3 which means that I can't make last minute corrections on a ripped file.
