>How can I tell if a font exists by that name? Is there some Postscript command that will tell me? In a sense, findfont will. But it will return a default font (Courier) if not found. You could test for courier. > >I've never used a Postscript string before, please provide an example for specifying a font name as a string variable. Your first example was fine. Your problem is that you do not have a font by that name. Take a step back - a big step back. Some fonts are built into the printer. For instance, Times-Roman. Others are not. In the case where the font is not built in to the printer, what are you doing, to make this print job work? If the font is not in the printer, how can it be printed? I think you may have missed out a big step - or else not explained what you are doing fully. Aandi Inston
