I'm not sure if this is the right forum to discuss this or not, but I'm trying to figure out from an eps file what it's clipping path is, using a text editor. Is this possible, and if so can someone please give me a push in the right direction? Thanks, Robin

But searching for the "clip" or "eoclip" operators might well help you find a clipping path ... OTOH they may just lead you through a maze of nested procedure definitions. --Odysseus

Robin, normally, curved clipping paths are made by Bezier curves. These start always with x0 y0 moveto. Then comes one path segment by x1 y1 x2 y2 x3 y3 curveto The path continues either by curveto or by moveto Finally closepath clip In some programs moveto and curveto are abbreviated by m and c: /m moveto def /c curveto def If the path is created by a character then one will find true charpath clip Here are some examples: <http://www.fho-emden.de/~hoffmann/pstutor22112002.pdf> In fact, any closed path can be a clipping path. The doc contains the references for recommended books and for a program for editing/testing. Or do you mean the BOUNDING BOX ? Best regards --Gernot Hoffmann

Thanks for the info Gernot, I do mean a clipping path. I know what my bounding box is, but I'm trying to find out if there is a clipping path, and if so, what is it. Thanks, Robin

In general, to get this information from a general EPS file, you need a PostScript interpreter. Aandi Inston
