Creating EPS

I have spent the last four months building a graphical app which should
eventually export the graphics to EPS format. Now the final stage of my app
has come, but I have trouble getting a good overview of where EPS exactly
fits in, and what I should do.
For example, is it true that EPS is almost the same as PS with some
limitations?
If so, what are those limitations?
And, is it true that EPS only can (and must) hold one page?

I would appreciate it if you have some suggestions about books I should
read... (I already have ordered the book PostScript Language Reference
Manual SE,1991)

It is PS, with some limitations. But it may also have a preview image
attached. This is optional but users will think it is broken if you
cannot use it.

See the EPS Specification on http://partners.adobe.com/

Absolutely. And if you are thinking it might have something else, I
think you have the wrong idea of what EPS is for. Perhaps we can help
- what use would you envisage for a multi-page EPS.

None, I suppose. But I'm not conviced. For example, what use would you
envisage for a single-page Word???? I have never heard of EPS until this
project started, so I would appreciate to be carried around....
But thanks anyway!

Hi Camiel,

The Peter Vollenweider book, is also available in German by Carl Hanser Verlag (Munich-Vienna) publishers.

Perhaps another place to find it is in the *author university*: Computing Center of the University of Zurich (Switzerland).

Hope this helps,
