I am sending a .PS file from a program to distiller to produce a PDF. When the page prints on a laser printer the form prints in landscape mode. When it displays in reader it is in portrait mode. Is there a postscript command I can insert into the .PS file to correct the display orientation?

Yes. You can try <</PageSize [792 612] /ImagingBBox [0 0 792 612]>> setpagedevice. You're possibly better off simply setting the Distiller Job Options (Advanced) to Width: 792 Height: 612 ...

Gunnar, thanks for your response. I have tried changing the width and height setting but they do no change the display orientation in reader. I read somewhere, but now have forgotten where, that there is a command similar to /ViewOrientation (some option) to force the desired viewing orientation. I have posted to two other forums also but no joy.

Hello, and you may well be right there is an /Orientation key (0=default, 1=90 degrees rotation, etc.) in the setpagedevice operator, but it's for roll media. It doesn't really affect Distiller. What does work for me in the PostScript is as follows:

%!PS
<<
/PageSize [792 612] > setpagedevice 72 400 moveto
/EclypsHCCondens findfont 12 scalefont
setfont
(Test Orientation) show
