Hi, I'm working on a development poyect in my company and I need help in the VDP area, the main idea is to use VDP using PostScript, by concatenating the data file in a txt format with a developed ps file and printing the PS file. If you could help me with this I will really apreciated, I need info about using VDP on postscrip, links of pages that explain the process involve in the programing and implementation of the VDP in a ps file. Thanks for your help

This is a big topic, and it's hard to give a short answer. You may
want to look into hiring or contracting with some PostScript
developers, especially ones who specialize in variable data printing.
In general, because PostScript is a programming language, it can do
anything. You could certainly write a set of PostScript procedures
which would read from a concatenated data file and produce output.
Depending on how complex the job is, this may be easy or hard. For
example, if you basically want to print some names, addresses or other
variables on top of a fixed background, you could define the background
as a PostScript form, and use execform on each page to place the
background. Then you place the variable text on top with PostScript
operators.
If, on the other hand, you want to insert variable data into blocks of
text, and have the text nicely formatted regardless of the length of
the variables, then your PostScript code has to know how to do text
composition, line breaking, justification, hyphenation, etc. Not
impossible, but not easy.
If you want to include images, then the PostScript interpreter will
have to get the images from somewhere. They could be directly included
in the data file, or you could supply the location of the image. If
you supply the location, the PostScript interpreter will, of course,
have to be able to access the files.
In general, if the data file you append has lines of data (e.g., rows
from a table), you want a procedure like:
/maxlinelength 256 def % Or whatever size you want to allow
/line maxlinelength string def
{
currentfile line readline {
% process line, which is on top of operand stack
}{
exit
}ifelse
} loop
... data ...

Some usefull info here: http://www.tgreer.com/resources.html "Use of PostScript in Variable Data Printing" (http://www.tgreer.com/ps_vdp.html) "Preparing EPS files for use in VDP" (http://www.tgreer.com/eps_vdp.html) "Reusable Content Caching" (http://www.tgreer.com/eps_vdp2.html) (I think this post comes a bit late for the OP, sorry for that.)
