Does Adobe have any formal mechanism for submitting bugs? I've found what I believe to be a definite, repeatable bug with Distiller. Adobe's support site doesn't seem to offer any options for reporting bugs. Thomas D. Greer www.tgreer.com

The bug, if you want to try it, is to Distill a PostScript program that uses currentfile to draw strings on a page. If you use a job settings parameter with "Embed profile", then your program must use an obscenely large string to buffer the read, and Distiller appends a large pdfmark dictionary as a collection of strings to the end of currentfile, causing the pdfmark code to print on the page.

I can see that would be inconvenient, but I suspect it isn't a bug. Adobe do have a web page (somewhere) for bug reporting, but bear in mind that it is a PURE one way process. You tell Adobe what you believe is a bug, and... you can check in the next version to see if they accepted it, and fixed it. Aandi Inston

How can that not be a bug? Distiller is appending strings that it creates to the currentfile. It is corrupting the program.

A bug is something very specific: a program not working as the programmer or designer intended. If what you describe was intended (and it doesn't sound like an accident), then it isn't a bug. Aandi Inston

How would you describe an intential feature that 1) serves no apparent purpose (the pdfmark code isn't executed, it is encapsulated as strings) and 2) breaks standard PostScript programs?
