I'm looking for Comic Sans MS as a postscript font. Where is the best source.

Technically speaking, it already is a PostScript font. The PostScript language specification requires support for TrueType fonts as part of PostScript language level 3. As such, TrueType fonts are all PostScript fonts. Furthermore, for older PostScript devices that don't directly support TrueType (i.e., Type 42 fonts), all standard PostScript drivers and all Adobe applications, including Acrobat and Adobe Reader do provide conversion facilities at print submission time.

Assuming that by PostScript font you really mean Type 1 font, Comic Sans MS is a TrueType font designed, implemented, and distributed solely by Microsoft. They do not distribute it in any format other than TrueType. Nor are we aware of anyone else licensed by Microsoft to distribute the Comic Sans MS family (regular and bold) in any other format such as Type 1. If for some unexplainable reason, you absolutely needed to have these fonts in Type 1 format, it would make sense for you to contact Microsoft and ascertain whether your license for use of Comic Sans MS permits you to privately have a conversion to Type 1 performed. If they allow it, it would likely be only for your personal use and not distributable. But again, contact Microsoft!

Not really a PostScript programming question: try one of the font
related forums to reach the font wizards.

The PostScript file in the attachement shows
german texts placed along spirals using the
procedure pathtext (PostScript Language
Tutorial and Cookbook p.167 ISBN 0-201-10179-3
or 0-201-10189-0).

Because of german text the Adobe standard
encoding of the text font is replaced by the
ISO Latin-1 encoding (PostScript Language
Reference Manual p.275 ISBN 0-201-18127-4 ).

I want to substitute the text sequences "--"
by ZapfDingbats "flowers" or "hearts"
and/or Symbol card symbols.

Is it possible to add such symbols to free
positions of the text font in such a manner
that the new font is usable with pathtext
(gsview32 + Windows Me) ?
If yes, how can I do that ?

Composite fonts (like H.McGilton/M.Campione,
PostScript by Example, p.419 ISBN 0-201-63228-4)
are not accepted by the routine pathtext.

With best regards
Ch.Opitz
