Distilling Issues - Individual versus Concatenated

I add XMP metadata to PostScript files that are generated out of our warehouse for the purpose of automated processing on the part of one of our vendors.
At the individual file level, the files distill without error. However, we actually concatenate the files, and the concatenated file fails after processing maybe a page or two. I've pasted a sample of the code that I embed - if you have any idea why the concatenated file is misbehaving, I'd really appreciate a suggestion or two.
Thanks,
Tim
