I found this statement from a digital press hardware vendor: "In order to optimize print quality, the Adobe Postscript RIP re-executes paintProc every time a form is used." Is that true, or false? My understanding (which has been wrong before!) was that Adobe left it up to the vendor to implement form caching. That is a slightly different statement than the quote above. Thomas D. Perhaps "the Adobe PostScript RIP" means "our Adobe PostScript RIP" to them. Aandi Inston

Perhaps. I can't find any documentation on the Adobe CPSI though. I'd like to know what the default behavior of the RIP is in regard to Forms. Does it provide a caching mechanism, or not? My guess is "yes", and that it does NOT re-execute a form's PaintProc unless it must (due to graphics state changes, VM, etc.). Thomas D. Greer <http://www.tgreer.com>
