Hello, this is my first post here. I am new to PS programming and need some help with this filter. Namely, to figure out how to use both the ASCII85Decode and DCTDecode filters with the ReusableStreamDecode filter. Here's part of my script: %!PS-Adobe-3.0 %%Creator: TJL %%Title: sauce_25 %%CreationDate: () %%LanguageLevel: 3 /TemplateData currentfile << /Filter [ /ASCII85Decode /DCTDecode ] /DecodeParms [ null << >> ] >> /ReusableStreamDecode filter s4IA0!" <...lots of ASCII85 JPEG data...> ~> %%EOF def Just sending this to a PS L3 printer generates a Postscript Error. Removing the /DecodeParms because these filters do not require params makes no difference. If I remove the /DCTDecode filter and params, it is received ok, but "image" fails to image it properly since it is still compressed. My goal is to reuse this stream on multiple pages without having to decompress it each time. Any help would be appreciated...thx -Tony Lima

Your code looks OK with respect to the PLRM. Try feeding your data into distiller or Ghostscript (as a reference implementation); I have found a couple of quirks in "real" PS printers with respect to combination of filters.

Thanks Helge, I just ran this thru Ghostscript with no problems. Any idea what would be the course to take in a situation like this?

What is the PostScript error message you get, and what printer do you use?

I am using an OKIData C7300. I don't know (yet) how to extract the specific PostScript error. The printer itself just displays "Postscript Error". I'll look into this. I may also try to create another reusable stream from the JPEG compressed one. Thanks.

Update. Switching to a different printer (Lexmark) resolved this issue. I will pursue this on the OKI when time permits. Might need a firmware upgrade or something.
