Hello, I'm a graphic designer preparing to purchasing a new PostScript printer. Some offer PostScript level 2 and others level 3. What's the main difference and is it enough of a difference that I may not want to buy one with level 2?

No new printer model with Adobe PostScript has PostScript Level 2. Maybe some emulations do and even those would be fairly obsolete. There are a number of optimizations in PostScript 3, especially for rendering of gradients and images that make PostScript 3 important. And it shouldn't be costing you anything more, either. Note that you should be very careful about any printers that have emulation of PostScript as opposed to Adobe PostScript 3. - Dov
