Hi there we've got a video sequence of hundered of different clips that we need to export individual clips from (as individial files) Is there an easy way we can batch export them all (by marking them or splitting them up) so that we can avoid the horrible task of exporting one by one thanks a lot for your help! Nick

I'm a little confused by what you have and what you want (don't you already have clips?)-- but I think you can do what you want. Export a batch _list_ for all the clips on your timeline. Now recapture using the list, and all your clips are individual files. Remember to set 'no handles' or 'zero' as the handle value to get clips that are the same as what you have on your timeline. GB

aaaah - that sounds promosing. Basically - we've filmed somebody speaking in one loooong piece. We now need to segment that speach out in to 100s of individual clips. The batch list sounds like it may be the way to go (although Ill have to wait till im back at work on monday to find out :( ) thanks again for your help - much appreciated

mmm... back to work - we're not sure if this is going to work - as the batch list only lists the sequences and not the segments within them :( Its looking more and more like we have to do this manually! :( Ive linked to a screen shot of our situation to help. Basically we have a sequence which within it has hundreds of little clips that we've spliced out of one big master clip. We now need to export every single clip as an individual .avi Is there any way that we can do this in a quick way? We have looked at the 'log clip' option at point of capture, but this wouldnt give us the option of fine tuning out clips :( Heres a grab of our screen - thanks a lot for your help! <http://contrastmedia.co.uk/downloads/grab.jpg>

In v6.5, which is the one open in front of me, if I open a batch capture window and drag clips from the timeline into the window, the window converts the clips into a batch capture list. So if I drag a hundred clips into the window, I get a batch list one hundred clips long ... No logging, no sequences -- but v6.5. Can you not do something similar with your set-up? Sorry, I don't have v2.0 loaded on this sytem to experiment for you. GB

PPro dropped batch exporting from version 1.0 onwards. It has been an existing feature request since. Apparently, not enough users have voiced support for this feature. Please file a feature request here on the Adobe site.

Jeff, he doesn't need batch export -- he can get the job done with a Batch Capture List ... but I don't have the current version to walk him through the process of making a batch list from clips on the timeline. Read my earlier posts to see -- it is not batch export, which would be a nice feature, but is not what is called for here. GB

mmm.. Ill have another look at the help files tomorrow - but as far as I can see (and Ive tried a few times) the only way I can create a batch list is by clicking on the Project window and then selecting 'export batch list' this however only creates a list of all the sequences in the project and NOT the chopped clips within each sequence :( I cant seem to get the 'export batch list' option to activate at any other time other than when clicking in the projects window and (and not selecting anything) thanks for your replies guys - much appreciated. Ill have another look tomorrow at work

Nick, Try this method: Place your clips on the timeline (you can do this all at once to save time), and then use Project > Project Manager to Create New Trimmed Project. If your original clips are from DV, and your project is DV, this will create a new file for each clip on the timeline. Voila! Batch export. PS- Much props to Christian Jolly for alerting me to this workaround. this however only creates a list of all the sequences in the project and
NOT the chopped clips within each sequence
Which is why I always use subclips instead of the razor tool.

Hmm. In the version I'm working on right now, dragging clips into an open Batch Window generates a Batch Capture List for those clips -- regardless of whether they were razored or subclips. Is someone with v2 running saying this isn't possible? Or they haven't tried? A 'list of sequences' is confusing -- that's not a batch capture list at all ... how can you capture from tape if you have a list of sequences? (I like the trimmed project solution -- that saves recapturing all together ... but I am curious about the batch capture list functionality) GB

RGB, in Pro, there is no batch window. All clips are logged in the Project panel. Clips that are captured are "online", and clips that have not been captured yet (akin to the old batch list idea) show as "offline."
This is advantageous over the 6.x version you have, because you no longer need to save Batch lists. Plus, every single clip retains its timecode info. So whether or not you batch captured, or whether you captured "on the fly," the clip can be re-captured with frame accuracy at any point down the road.
(Remember in the oooold days of Premiere, dating back to 4.x, that you could only re-capture a clip if it had originally been batch captured.)
As far as "list of sequences..." I think he meant "list of clips."

Hi again Jeff - thanks for your suggestion of the project manager - it seems to solved our problem (mostly) there is one strange occurance though that I wonder if you could shed any light on? Once we trim the project back all the seperately chopped clips (as you said) appear in the project window as seperate AVIs. However... they're in a different order! :-) Even though the order that we expect was the sequential order of the original tape strange but true - would you know why this is? thanks again for all your help

My hunch tells me that they are in order of their usage in the timeline. (Because the default sort order in the Project panel is by name, and these clips have been renamed sequentially, based on the order they appear in the Timeline.) If these clips came from DV originally, you should be able to view the Media In column, and sort by their timecode, which will give you the order you desire. Hi Jeff when cutting up the sequence into its chunks, we didn't reorder them in any way. So theoretically they should have been exported in the same order as on the source DV. This is why it is strange that Project Manager seems to have exported them in some apparently random order - there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to it. There is no way to reorder them as they're saved directly to the folder on the computer (in they're strange order) ie... clipname_01.avi clipname_02.avi clipname_03.avi ... and not displayed in any window within Premiere that we could reorder curiouser and curiouser :|
