Problem rendering fast motion footage.

Hi.

I am trying to render footage that is running at 200% the normal speed. The video was captured digitally using a hard-drive sony camcorder.

When I rendered the footage into a lower-qualiy file for a website, the footage played at twice the speed with no problem, it still seemed to run at the full 24fps.

However when I convert it into a full size avi file, the fast-motion footage comes out as jumpy, with a drastically reduced frame-rate. Can anyone help with suggesting what I need to do to the footage to allow it to render at 24fps? I don't understand why it would work for the lower quality rendering but not the best quality!

Thanks
