Ralf, See my response to you in the other thread. You will have a very difficult time making custom press simulation profiles (e.g. U.S. SWOP Coated). This is the wrong approach in any case unless you are trying to develop a press profile for, say, some oddball printing press that doesn't match any "standard" process. (In that case, you could also try asking your printing press operators to provide you with a custom profile.) A better approach is to edit the existing PressReady media profiles (the ones with the strange naming convention -- one for every medium type and output resolution) using a program like ColorVision Doctor Pro. It's tricky -- you have to maintain the exact naming of the factory profiles -- but it can be done. To further elaborate on the two types of profiles used by PressReady, the press simulation profile is what you select in the Print Color control panel; the appropriate media profile is automatically selected when you choose output medium and print quality (resolution) at print time. Trying to generate custom media profiles for PressReady is basically impossible. This is one of the proprietary areas of PressReady, and if it were that easy to generate these profiles, there would be a small third-party business dedicated to it. Best of luck, =-= Harron =-=
