Be absolutely certain you've found and trashed every PR file, extension,
      color profile, etc before reninstalling.

Adobe used to have a tech doc on manually uninstalling PR. I can't find it any more, but I did manage to keep a text file of its contents. Here's what it said:

How do I manually remove PressReady 1.0 from the Macintosh?

Adobe PressReady 1.0 software does not include an uninstaller. The removal of PressReady 1.0 from your Macintosh must be done manually.

To manually remove PressReady 1.0 from the Macintosh, perform the following steps:

Step 1:
From the desktop, double-click the Macintosh HD.

If you have important files located in the Adobe Circulate folder or the Adobe PressReady folder, you will need to relocate them to an alternate preferred file location before proceeding to Step 2.

Step 2:
While holding down the shift key, click the Adobe Circulate and Adobe PressReady folders, drag them to the Trash.

If you have the retail version of Adobe Acrobat 4.0 installed on your machine, go to Step 4.

Step 3:
If you do not have the retail version of Adobe Acrobat 4.0 installed, click the Adobe Acrobat 4.0 folder, drag it to the Trash.

Step 4:
Double-click the System Folder.

Step 5:
Double-click the Extensions folder.

Step 6:
Click the Adobe printer plug-in for your printer and drag the folder to the Trash.

In this example, there is only one Adobe printer plug-in named Adobe Epson Plug-In #00. Your system may have more than one printer plug-in listed. All listed plug-ins must be deleted.

Step 7:
From the Extensions folder, repeat Step 6 for the following:

The Adobe Postscript 3 file
The Adobe Printing Library file
The Adobe Printing System file
All files that begin with PR followed by your printer model

You may need to scroll to locate the above items.

Step 8:
If the dialog boxes depicted in Steps 8 and 9 do not appear proceed to Step 10.

If you have created a desktop printer, the dialog box below will appear when you drag it to the Trash. Click OK.

Step 9:
Click OK.

Step 10:
From the Extensions folder, repeat Step 6 for the following:

The PressReady Resources folder
The Printing Plug-ins folder

You may need to scroll to locate the above items.

Step 11:
Double-click the Printer Descriptions folder.

Step 12:
Click the Create Adobe PDF file, drag the Create Adobe PDF file to the Trash.

Step 13:
From the Printer Descriptions folder, repeat Step 12 for the following:

The PressReadyPTP file
All PostScript Printer Description files ending in (PressReady)

An example of a PostScript Printer Description filename would be Epson 1520 (PressReady).

You may need to scroll to locate the above items.

Step 14:
If you have the AdobePS 8.6 printer driver installed, proceed to Step 15, otherwise repeat Step 13 for the following:

The CustomPage file
The VirtualPrinter file
The Watermarks file

Step 15:
From the System Folder double-click the Control Panels folder.

Step 16:
Click the Adobe Print Color file. Drag the Adobe Print Color file to the Trash.

Step 17:
From the System Folder double-click the ColorSync Profiles folder.

Step 18:
While holding down the shift key, click each file ending in .ICM. Drag the files to the Trash.

Step 19:
From the System Folder double-click the Preferences folder.

Step 20:
Click the Adobe Print Color Prefs folder. Drag the Adobe Print Color Prefs folder to the Trash.

Step 21:
Click the Printing Prefs file. Drag the Printing Prefs file to the Trash.

Step 22:
Restart your computer.
