Logo guidelines

Hi,

I'm doing a website for a company and during a meeting they decide that they will have kids from the community design the logo for their project. Their project is a new housing development. So it's one of those situations where they have to keep a good face and public image, hence the website where they can spew their propaganda.

Nevertheless...
They do not yet have a logo for one branch of their business and they decided they would let kids from the community in which their new development is planned design the logo.

So I need to create logo guidelines for kids. Obviously these are not the same guidelines you'd give a design professional.

I'm asssuming the kids will be in high school, although we could include junior high as well.

Can anyone show me an example of what this might look like? Has anyone done this before? Obviously there are basic design rules which will still apply, such as limited color palette, etc.

But what else can I write in my guidelines? I'm lost and would much appreciate any help you can offer. Thanks,
Stan
