Printer out of Paper message

I post this to both groups since there may be some relation to the two.

I have a Compaq Presario 1260 Laptop, 333 AMD K6/2, 64MRam and ~ 2.8GB disk
running W98 (1st edition), Office 97, MSIE/OE 6, all critical updates, modem
only, and no MS Messaging. It runs clean with Mcafee AV v5.21 with All
Files and All Heuristics selected.

When I go to Kinkos to print out files, I continually get the above message
from my system when obviously the printers seem to be working fine.
They use a standard suite of Adobe PS printer drivers which normally have
worked fine for my system and then for some reason during various AV SW,
and utility installs, have ceased to work.

I have tried de/reinstalling their SW numerous times as well as all my
printer
drivers, and everything else concievable in the SW chain from application,
to Spooling, Printer driver, and port sw to see what might work, and no
luck.

They use a Xerox Docuprint 4025 that has direct cables
that plug into the parallel port. The printer is a network printer that
goes through some little box to make it look like a local one.

I do have a local Cannon 200ex bubble jet printer that seems to work fine
from the same port.

This may not be a life threatening problem, but it certainly is something
that I
would like to get resolved if not for any other reason than to know that my
system
is working like it should be.

As far as any unusual SW, I have the Grisoft Free AV sw, and Zone Alarm
Firewall,
and the usual set of applications and utilities.

Please let me know any ideas on how to get this bug resolved, since I know
that there
are other folks out there with the same situation, especially at Kinkos.

Thanks, ken.
