Making Postscript file from Quark 4.11 under Windows 2000

We recently switched from Windows 98 to Windows 2000 (new computer/clean install). Our tech found and installed a new Adobe PS Printer Driver because he said the one we had on Windows 98 was incompatible with Windows 2000.

This new 2000 Postscript driver behaves differently when we try to create a Postscript file from a Quark 4.11 document with the purpose of subsequently creating a PDF.

The Windows 98 Postscript driver brought up an interface that let us maneuver to a specific folder in which the .ps file would be created. In our workflow, this is a very useful feature. We store most "hot" .ps and .pdf files in a specific folder, not all over our system.

The Windows 2000 Postscript driver does not bring up this kind of interface. Instead, a small box appears upper left asking us for a file name. We give it a name, followed by .ps, and click OK. But where does the file go? We need to locate that file when we launch Distiller to create a PDF.

A post in the Postscript archives suggested a workaround was to type in the complete Drive letter and path, presumably before the >filename.ps.< We tried this and got the following error message: "Local Port: Could not open the file: The system cannot find the path specified." We're not even trying to OPEN a file, but are trying to SAVE one!

Any ideas?
