Frank, You answered your own question to some degree. Although Xerox refers to the 8200 as ๏ฟฝlaser class output,๏ฟฝ the printer is really what I refer to as a CrayonJet printer. Simply stated, hot wax is sprayed on the paper. It quickly dries to form a high quality image. My own personal experience is that the quality of this technology is not up to the quality as a good color laser. Others may have other opinions about this, though. As far as I know, there are no third party providers of the solid ink bars for these devices. The chemistry of those is more complex than that of the ink used for inkjet printers. In figuring your costs, always assume that you will be buying the ink/toner/whatever other than paper from the printer manufacturer. - Dov
