Arnis, Aandi, I was already using HP's 4500 PPD for the printer, and have now installed a new driver with the proper Adobe Distiller PPD for PDF distillation, as you suggested. Which seems to work well, colour and all. I still don't know what's wrong with the 4500 output. Must be the cloneware... Thanks for the help -- Stan. That's not a PPD file. Well, it does say "Postscript Printer Driver" in large boldface in the installation wizard's window ;)
