On Windows 2000 something happens with output from PageMaker 7.0 (and 6.5) that cause a few characters from CE fonts to print wrong in some situations. 

With Arial CE (TrueType) I've seen it with the character 'c' with a reversed 'hat' upon it and with a variety of Type 1 fonts I've seen it with the similar 'z' with such a 'hat' on. 

The symptom appear when the *correct* Distiller PPD was selected in combination with the latest driver for Win2000 that follows the latest Adobe universal printer driver installer. 

The funny thing is that with Arial CE (TrueType) the 'c reversed hat' character actually prints *as expected* when the PPD for HP 8550 is installed and selected as PPD from within PageMaker - also when it's run with Distiller. This effect does NOT apply to the 'z reversed hat' character in Type 1 fonts, though. 'z reversed hat' prints OK with the TrueType versions, however. 

The resulting sizes of the PostScript files are quite different too, because different font information is downloaded with each driver type. 

I have three customers that work with CE fonts and PageMaker, and all three have these problems on both UK English and Danish Windows 2000 boxes setup with Danish as default language. 

In all cases a hand-coded 'Distiller PPD' based on the PPD for HP 8550 solved the problems with Arial CE.
