Hi j.

Don't know about consumer inkjetprinters that handle PostScript. Most of the inkjet printers I'm familiar with require use of some kind of software PostScript RIP.

Adobe doesn't have a universal PostScript driver. It has a universal driver installer, the same installer software is used to install different PostScript drivers for Windows 9x, NT, 2000, or XP. The drivers are different, the installer is universal. And all it does is install the driver needed for printing to an actual PostScript printer. It won't let you print PostScript to a non-PostScript device.
