I'm generating PostScript for text and greyscale docs from an app (on W98SE) that knows nothing about ICC or dot gain, but I need to compensate for dot gain in my print company's Computer To Plate litho printing process, which is about 20% in the mid-range. I thought I should be able to do this using the Distiller PS Driver v3.0 and the Euroscale ICC profiles, both downloaded from Adobe. * Am I right in thinking that ICC profiles like the Euroscale ones will provide dot gain compensation for greyscale? I set the driver's Default Color Profile to EuroscaleUncoated, Graphics > Image Color Matching to: 'Allow image color matching', and Image Color Matching Settings to: 'Host Image Color Matching', for Contrast. Host Color Matching sounds like it should produce a fully adjusted file ready to feed into a platemaker or other printer, so I tested it by producing a PS file of a tint-step. However, when I printed it out on my local laser printer the tints were unchanged - 50% was exactly 50% still. Surely the 50% tint should have been reduced to something like 42%, so that a dot gain of about 20% in the litho process would take it back up to 50% again? * Where am I going wrong? Mike
