I am having the same problem. I have been trying different ways to install the ppf/ppd files on my XP since May. Every time, I get the same messages: "system error 126. Unable to load string." THEN "Failure in ADdPrinter(psdistiller...) System error: 1797 the driver is unknown." I have tried only using "add printer". It did not work. I have tried adding a printer file. It did not work. I have gone through the process step by step in a on line PDF class. The presenter spent 1 1/2 hours trying to figure out why I couldnt install the program. He was stumped at the end and sent me to a browser forum with "read only" posts (http://adobe.groupbrowser.com/XP_PS_driver_install_error_126-t32987.html) It seemed to have a possible answer, but it was too complicated for me to comprhend (I have very basic computer knowlege) so I needed to post and that board sent me to this board to post. I have also tried installing the program in safe mode and installing with my spyware turned off - still no good. At one point in time, I got fed up with Explorer and did my best to delete all explorer related stuff, perhaps I deleted some path I need now... I hope there is someone out there who can solve this problem in a way I can understand and complete because the print on demand printers that I have access too are only compatable with adobe products, preferable before acrobat 5 and of course, my xp wont run anything before acrobat 5 so I really need this program. but for all the trouble it is causing, I should just buy 5 and go through whatever steps are necessary to make it compatable with the POD printers. Computers are such a Love-Hate thing!
