The Distiller PPD is fairly close to being a generic PPD for a composite color, Adobe PostScript 3 device with null page margins. It allows an exceptional variety of custom page sizes but doesn't have entries to provide to printer specific features such as duplexing, collation, input tray choice, manual feed, separations, etc.

In general, when dealing PostScript generation, it is always much preferable to have a PPD for the target PostScript device.
