Memory available & Collate option

Hi!

I have two questions about PS driver options.
In the PPD file, there is a way to customize the VM amount with the memory installed in the printer.
Could you describe how this option works? That is, what differences exist between PostScript files generated with 4MB PS memory available, and 16MB PS memory available, for example?

Secondly, I'd like some precisions about the Collate option. I'd like to know how the PS interpreter handles it: does it memorize the different pages? Is it possible to send a PS document collated bigger than the PS printer memory (if the interpreter has to put all the pages in memory before re-printing).

Thank you in advance

Carole
