I have a Linux CUPS print server that I am printing to from Windows XP. I installed the Adove Postscript driver (as that is what CUPS+gimp expects). I tried setting up the driver to use samba and as well as IPP. In both cases everything prints fine but the printer, in Windows, says it is offline. If I set up a RAW queue on the print server and use the standard print driver from Windows for my printer it says it is ready. While using the Adobe PS driver I used network analyzer and I can see where Windows is asking for the status. The print server shows the printer as idle yet Windows thinks it is offline. I think this narrows it down to the Adobe PS driver or at least something wrong with my PPD? Do any of you know what would cause the driver to think the printer is offline? Thx

There is no AdobePS driver for Windows XP. If you use the AdobePS installer, it will install the Adobe driver in Windows 9x, but in Windows XP, it just uses Microsoft's own PostScript driver. Aandi Inston

You should take the CUPS Postscript driver for Windows from cups.org <http://cups.org/software.php> @Aandi: You are not right. The Adobe Postscript driver installer 1.06 contains the drivers for Win9x, NT, 2k and XP in different folders. If you start the program and kill the process you can find them in c:\documents and settings\<user>\local settings \tmp\

Yes, but the drivers you see for Windows 2000 and XP are Microsoft's drivers, also available on the Windows CDROM. Not an Adobe creation like on older systems. Aandi Inston
