The one which comes with Windows XP. Use the ADD PRINTER icon in the usual way. Aandi Inston

Or use the "mobile Printing Driver" from hp. This is a driver which supports ALL printers which supports ps.

This looks useful, but I think "ALL" is going a bit far. http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/us/en/en/WF06a/18972-236253-236259-78061-236259-295803.html says: "Supported Printers: Any networked Postscript-capable HP printer in any intranet-connected office location; Includes HP business inkjet 2250, 2280 and 2600 series printers; HP 2500cm, HP LaserJet 1200/1220 series, 2100m, 2200 and 2500 series, 3200 and 3300 series, 4000 series, 4050 series, 4100 series (including 4100mfp and 4101mfp), 5000 series, 5100 series, 5500 series, 8000 series, 8100 series, 8150 series, 9000 series (including 9000mfp), HP color LaserJet 4500 series, 4550 series, 4600 series, 8500 series, and 8550 series" That does exclude any non-networked printer, and anything not made by HP! Just what is the objection to using ADD PRINTER, and the preference for downloading things instead?? Aandi Inston

How does one know if one's printer supports postscript. For example, I have both a HP LaserJet 1100 and Samsung Laser 1200. If these do not support ps, can I install the Adobe Generic PS Script 5 on Windows XP?

>How does one know if one's printer supports postscript. Generally, you check the manual or box. PostScript is a premium feature, and they will surely tell you. > If these do not support ps, can I install the Adobe Generic PS Script 5 on Windows XP? What is it you want to do. There is something called AdobePS, but on Windows XP it just installs the same driver that ADD PRINTER does. It does NOT turn a non-PostScript printer to a PostScript printer. It is used in conjunction with a PPD for a printer. It includes a Generic PostScript PPD, but my advice is NEVER to use that - it is almost never the solution to whatever problem people are trying to solve. Aandi Inston

How does one know if one's printer supports postscript?
Look here:
<http://www.linuxprinting.org/database.html>
If the printer supports Postscript you can also download the PPD file from there.
