PostScript 2 not working on HP IIISi

I have a HP IIIsi with the 33494E Adobe's PostScript Level 2 SIMM installed.

When I print a test page it shows that PostScript* is an installed option,
and further down the page it shows that the PostScript Code Version is 52.3.

My display shows 00 PS READY

When I print to it (I'm using Windows XP for what it's worth) it works fine
for PostScript 1 and PCL, But when I try to print to it using PostScript 2
(say from Acrobat Reader) the printer spits out a page saying:
--------------------------------
"Your printer driver needs to be configured for printing to a PostScript
Language Level 1 printer.

Windows and Unix
Select "Language Level 1" in the PostScript options section of Acrobat print dialog."
--------------------------------
Anyone have a thought why I can't print with PostScript level 2?

By the way I have been using both the "HP LaserJet IIISi" and "HP LaserJet IIISi PostScript v52.3" drivers. Nether work for PostScript Level 2 on my printer.

Thanks for any help,

Ben

Ben,

In fact, Hewlett-Packard issued two different Adobe PostScript SIMMs for the LaserJet IIIsi. The first one was a PostScript Level 1 SIMM produced before Adobe released PostScript Level 2. A second SIMM supporting PostScript Level 2 became available not long afterwards. Both products were sold only via Hewlett-Packard and were never directly sold by Adobe.

Based upon the 52.3 version number on the test page, I can with 100% certainty confirm that you have the original PostScript Level 1 SIMM. Hewlett-Packard no longer sells any LaserJet III parts (except for toner cartridges). If you really need the PostScript Level 2 SIMM, you might try eBay or similar outlets.
