What does this error message mean: "To save a document as a PDF file a postscript printer must be set up to print to a file."

Do I need to install a printer before I am able to convert the files?

Thanks.

Since this message is being generated by Quark XPress, you might be better off contacting Quark Technical Support or one of their on-line support forums for assistance.

What is likely going on is that Quark XPress versions earlier than 6.0 generate PDF by printing to a PostScript printer driver instance and then calling the Distiller. Given that there is no added value in the Quark XPress (5 and earlier) PDF export command, you would be better off to simply use the "print" command using the "Acrobat Distiller" (Acrobat 5 and earlier) or "Adobe PDF" (Acrobat 6)PostScript printer instance. Make sure that the Distiller PPD is referenced.
