Spoolsv.exe problem under W2k

I recently upgraded my NT4 machine to W2k, SP3. I noticed immediately that Acrobat 4 and CorelDraw9 where printing .25" to the right and .25" too high on the page.

The printer is a Xerox DocuPrint n2825 that is being shared over a peer to peer Win network. The pc it is attached to is running NT4, SP5.

I looked for new W2k drivers on Xerox's site. They seem to be derived from the Adobe v5 driver. As soon as I loaded them, the offset printing problem was resolved. Yippee! (Pop! that was the sound of my happy bubble bursting).

For some reason, any activation of an Adobe 5 driver, on my system, starts up a background process of Spoolsv.exe that runs every second. This can completely interfere with Word 2000 and CorelDraw.

I've been around and around and around over the last 3 weeks. Install, deinstall, xerox, adobe, MS. Everything is the same. I either have to live with offset printing or spoolsv.exe interrupting every second. (BTW, spoolsv.exe also growing in memory with each activation.)

Please, does someone know what is going on and how to fix it?

TIA
JohnS

In what way? I've had that ... well, for years ... and don't see any issues with it.
