Dear Rob,
Here's my SWAG.
Even though you are logged in with "admin" privileges, you don't have unlimited authority. Sometimes you have to authenticate a second time, because the "system" or "root" owns the folder (instead of your username owning the folder).
Control-click on the Conduits folder (Mac HD/Library/App Support/Palm HotSync/Conduits)
Select Get Info
Expand the Ownership & Permissions
Expand Details
If your login name is not in the Owner block
Write down the name that appears there (e.g., system or admin or whatever)
Click on the lock icon next to the Owner block
Authenticate with your normal username and password
Change the Owner to your username
Make sure the Owner Access is Read & Write
Lock the lock icon
Close the Get Info window
You should be able put the conduit in the Conduits folder. Once it is there, change the ownership of the Conduits folder back to what it was.
Let me know if this solves it for you.
Sincerely,
Peter
